Early career

Billstein started his career at 18 years old in 2009. He fought mainly for organizations within his home country, achieving a record of 9–1 and losing only once against Attila Vegh. Most of his fights ended by knockout in the first round.

In 2011, Billstein was contracted by Bellator.

Bellator Fighting Championships

Billstein made his debut on November 19, 2011 at Bellator 58 against Herbert Goodman. Billstein lost by disqualification after kicking his opponent's face while he was on the ground.

Billstein faced Mike Seal on May 25, 2012 at Bellator 70. He won the bout via technical submission in the first round.
