Norwegian author Jon Michelet Died at 73


Jon Michelet (born July 14, 1944 in Moss, Norway) is a Norwegian novelist. He has had experience in various lines of work, including sailor and brewery worker and references to these experiences can be found in his writing.

Author and editor

He's well known for his action-thriller novel Orion's Belt (1977). The novel was adapted into a 1985 film by the same name, which is regarded as Norway's first modern action film. He has also written a number of thrillers and crime novels. Michelet has created the work Sjøens helter (in Norwegian), a series of books consisting of four volumes about Norwegian war sailors during World War II and their destinies.

He was the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian far-left daily Klassekampen from 1997 to 2002.
