Captain John Wallace Scott (August 31, 1832 – May 12, 1903) was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Scott received his country's highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor. Scott's medal was won for capturing the flag at the Battle of Five Forks in Virginia on April 1, 1865. He was honored with the award on April 27, 1865.
Scott was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States and was assigned insignia #13441.

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain (Infantry) John Wallace Scott, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 1 April 1865, while serving with Company D, 157th Pennsylvania Infantry, in action at Five Forks, Virginia, for capture of the flag of the 16th South Carolina Infantry, in hand-to-hand combat.
