John Sludden (born 29 December 1964), is a Scottish former footballer who played as a forward for several clubs in the Scottish Football League. He is currently the manager of East Stirlingshire in the Lowland League.

Playing
Sludden first came to public attention in 1980, scoring twice for Scotland against England at Wembley Stadium in a Schoolboy International shown live on television. He signed for Celtic in January 1981 on the same day as a teammate and goalscorer from that game, Paul McStay, but made only one first-team appearance in a Glasgow Cup final against Rangers in 1982.
Leaving Celtic in 1983, Sludden made his Premier Division debut for St Johnstone before moving on to Airdrieonians then Ayr United. At Ayr, under the management of Ally MacLeod, Sludden was part of a talented attack minded team alongside players such as Henry Templeton. In the 1987–88 season, Ayr won the Second Division championship with Sludden scoring 31 league goals.
Sludden left Ayr in 1989 for local rivals Kilmarnock and later played for East Fife, Clydebank, Clyde and Stenhousemuir. before being appointed player/manager of Junior side Bo'ness United in 1995. Sludden resigned as Bo'ness manager in October 2001 and later was involved in youth development at Celtic.

He was appointed manager of Camelon Juniors in April 2014, On 13 June 2015 He won the Fife and Lothians Cup in a 1-0 victory over Sauchie Juniors. On 7 May 2016, Sludden left Camelon Juniors In May 2016 Sludden was confirmed as the new manager of East Stirlingshire, following their relegation to the Lowland League.
Personal life
Sudden is the father of former Falkirk and Stenhousemuir striker Paul Sludden, who currently plays under him at East Stirlingshire.
