John L. Bohanan, Jr. (born September 12, 1958) is an American politician who represents district 29B in the Maryland House of Delegates. Bohanan is chairman of the House Spending Affordability Committee.

Education
Delegate Bohanan attended St. Mary's Ryken High School in Leonardtown, Maryland. He later graduated from Towson State University in 1981 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in finance.

In the legislature
A member of House of Delegates since December 16, 1999, Delegate Bohanan is the Deputy Majority Whip for floor votes. Also, in Maryland, once the Governor has submitted his budget, the General Assembly must approve it. It cannot add to the budget, but it can cut it. The Spending Affordability Committee, which Bohanan chairs, determines which cuts, if any, are appropriate under a set of guidelines set-up by the committee. Bohanan is also a member of the House Appropriations Committee and its pensions oversight, its personnel committee its capital budget and is Chairman of its Education and Economic Development Subcommitte. Legislative notes
For the past four years, Delegate Bohanan has annually voted to support classroom teachers, public schools, police and hospitals in St. Mary's County. Since 2002, funding to schools across the State has increased 82%, resulting in Maryland being ranked top in the nation for K-12 education.
