Johan Van Mullem (born July 14, 1959) is a Belgian artist living and working near Brussels. He is a painter and sculptor known mainly for his depiction of faces.

Early life
Johan Van Mullem was born in Isiro in the Democratic Republic of Congo to Flemish parents, but spent much of his childhood following his diplomat father from country to country. From the age of seven to fourteen, Van Mullem lived in Tunisia, a country which deeply impacted him.
Career
Van Mullem’s oeuvre is characterized almost entirely by portraiture. More recently he has been exploring new directions such as landscapes and abstract paintings. The place of sculpture is growing since 2014.
