Joe Thein (born July 17, 1991 in Esch-sur-Alzette) is a Luxembourgish politician and councillor.

He is living in Lamadelaine in the commune of Pétange. He supports the philosophy of conservatism by Edmund Burke.

After obtaining his commercial diploma according to his schooltime at the Lycée Technique Mathias Adam, he worked as a flight attendant at the Luxembourgish airline Luxair. Subsequently, he began studies in history at the University of Luxembourg.

Political career

At the age of 16, he entered politics by joining the ADR on July 14, 2008. He joined the youth-organization adrenalin, déi jonk adr in 2009 as well and became an active politician.
After five years of vice-presidency, he got elected on March 16, 2015 in Luxembourg City as chairman of the youth organization. In the local elections held on October 9, 2011 he ran at the age of 20 for a seat in the council of Pétange obtaining 403 voices (230 list voices) and got elected, enabling the party's first seat in the municipality. In the Luxembourg General election held on October 20, 2013 he ran for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for the south, obtaining 5234 voices (3828 list voices) placing him fourth on the list. At the general meeting of the Pétange section, he got designated as head of the list for the upcoming local elections on October 8, 2017.

At the congress of the European Young Conservatives (EYC) from December 2 to 4, 2016 in Brussels, he got elected with 37 of 40 voices as 1. vice-chairman of the group of the european, conservative youth-organisations.

Furthermore, he was the vice-president of the ADR South region and local section of Pétange, as well as member of the executive and national committee of the party.

Under the production of Calach Films and in collaboration with Kollektiv 13, as well as with the support of the Lëtzebuerger Film Fong and RTL Luxembourg, there was a short documentarian film of the series routwäissgro, entitled “Meng Heemecht” realized about him.

On March 9, after a disciplinary procedure, he got expelled from his party due to a controversial “Like” on Facebook. Prior to the mesure, the justice proclaimed that no prosecution will be initiated because of no evidence of hatespeech. Yet, the party board voted for his exclusion. Soon after, he announced the possible founding of a “real conservative party”.

On March 21, he founded a new political party in Luxembourg called déi Konservativ (“The Conservatives”), of which he is the current chairman. On April 10, he got re-elected in his political office at the extraordinary national congress of the party.
