Duncan Joseph “Joe” McInnes (born 1943 in Wetumpka, Alabama) is the director of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), appointed by Alabama Governor Bob Riley.

Biography
After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1966, McInnes attended Samford University and its Cumberland School of Law. He also served in the US Army
Previous to his appointment to ALDOT, McInnes worked for Blount International, Inc. and retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. During his time with Blount he played a key in transforming the company from specializing in construction to being a multi-industry conglomerate.
He also assisted the Blount Family in founding the Montgomery-based Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the sixth largest Shakespeare festival in the world, and served as the director for the group.
McInnes’ involvement with the community extends past the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, including services as Trustee of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, President of the Tuckabatchee Area Council Boy Scouts of America, and President of the Montgomery United Way.
Early life
Growing up in Wetumpka, Ala Joe was active in Junior Achievement and Key Club activities including going to national conventions. It was during this time that a gift for gab was finely honed that aided in future success.
And regional and national networking for Junior Achievement campaigns, included working closely with Edgar Welden also of Wetumpka/ Birmingham; Jimmy Massey of Bastrop, Louisiana and Craig Knowles of Huntsville, Alabama.
Joe has been married to his wife Sandra McInnes, also of Wetumpka for 46 years and they have a grown daughter and son.
