He studied at University of Colorado in Boulder as an art major. He played lead guitar in the Boulder, Colorado-based band Zephyr, after the band released a pair of excellent albums with the great guitarist Tommy Bolin on Warner Bros. After leaving Zephyr, Tommy went on to play with the James Gang, and Deep Purple as well as recording two fine solo albums. Jock joined Gram Parsons's Fallen Angels tour, and appeared on the album, Live 1973 (Sierra, 1982).
