Joanna Louise Coles (born 20 April 1962) is the first person to hold the position of Chief Content Officer for Hearst Magazines. She previously held the position of editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, the world's largest women's media brand, from 2012 to September 2016, and was named an editorial director of Hearst in 2014.

Coles is an executive producer on "So Cosmo," a docu-series produced by Bunim/Murray Productions currently airing on E!. She additionally appears on camera in the series. Coles also serves as an executive producer on "The Bold Type," a scripted series based on her life as an editor which is being produced by Universal Television for Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family). The Coles inspired character is being played by Melora Hardin ("The Office," "Transparent").

Coles joined Hearst in 2006 as editor-in-chief of Marie Claire where she co-created and executive produced the docu TV series Running in Heels and appeared as the mentor in Project Runway: All Stars after orchestrating the brand's partnership with the Emmy Award-winning Project Runway.

The British-born editor graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA in English and American literature before starting her career at The Spectator. She moved to the U.S. in 1997 as the bureau chief for The Guardian and later joined The Times. Over the course of her career, she has been the recipient of numerous awards for her journalism and leadership in the media industry.

Since January 2016, Coles has sat on the board of directors at Snapchat. She is also on the board of Women Entrepreneurs New York City, an initiative to expand female entrepreneurship with a focus on underserved women and communities.
