Joann Ginal is an American politician who was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2012. A member of the Colorado Democratic Party, she represents the 52nd District which encompasses the eastern half of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Biography
Ginal earned her B.S. in Biology from University of New Hampshire, her Masters in Zoology from Iowa State University, and her Ph.D. in Reproductive Endocrinology from Colorado State University in 1997.
Ginal worked in the biological and medical fields for more than 20 years as a scientist with a focus in pharmacology, in research and most recently as a medical science liaison in medical affairs. She is a Master Naturalist with the city of Fort Collins.
Ginal is openly lesbian, and will be one of six LGBT members of the Colorado House of Representatives alongside Mark Ferrandino, Dominick Moreno, Paul Rosenthal and Sue Schafer.
Political Campaigns
Ginal's first run for political office was for the Colorado State House, District 52, in 2012.
General Election
In the 2014 General Election, Ginal faced Republican Donna Walter. Ginal was elected with 55% of the vote.
Democratic Primary
Ginal was unopposed on the June 26, 2012 Democratic primary ballot. Her Democratic primary opponent, Tom Griggs, was disqualified from nomination after Ginal won over 90% of the vote at the HD-52 Democratic nominating assembly.
General Election
In the 2012 General Election, Ginal faced Republican Bob Morain. Ginal was elected with 56% of the vote.
