Joan Vila Dilme (born 1966) is a Spanish serial killer who was convicted of killing 11 elderly patients.

Biography

Joan Vila Dilme was born in 1966 in Spain. He worked as a security guard at the La Caritat convalescent home in Olot.

Vila was arrested on October 18, 2010 after the death of 85-year-old Paquita Girones. Vila had forced her to drink bleach. He confessed to killing 3 elderly patients by giving them bleach Vila confessed to 8 more murders on November 30, 2010. He claimed he killed six by giving them a mixture of drugs and 2 by overdosing them on insulin. He said he committed the murders to "end their suffering." Two of the murders occurred in 2009, with the first in August. The other nine were committed in 2010.

Vila was sentenced to 127 years in prison on June 20, 2013. Psychologists Miguel Soria and Lluis Borras said that “He feels like a woman trapped in a man’s body.” Vila had revealed he was homosexual and claimed to “wearing my mother’s heels and clothes around the house when I was young.” He also said he suffers from manic depression.
