Jimmy Brown (1956 – 18 August 1992) was a Belfast member of the Official IRA, then Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) and the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA), and latterly of the Irish People's Liberation Organisation (IPLO).
Brown left the IRSM in the mid-eighties to join up with the IPLO. He was the leader of the Republican Socialist Collective, which was set up as the political wing of the IPLO. He was gunned down in his car on Clonard Street, Lower Falls, Belfast by the Irish Peoples Liberation Organisation Belfast Brigade (IPLOBB), a faction who opposed the IPLO leadership. A feud between the two groups was the cause of Brown's killing. The IPLO and IPLOBB were forcibly disbanded by the Provisional IRA in November 1992.
The Belfast Brigade claimed Brown was killed because he wouldn't investigate drugs allegations and had instead issued threats against those who "knew too much".
Brown's son, Emmet McDonough Brown, was elected as an Alliance Party of Northern Ireland member of Belfast City Council at the Northern Ireland local elections, 2014.
