Jimmy Alvarez is a media/business professional, radio personality and author. Radio

After working as a club DJ in Los Angeles in the early 80s, Alvarez was hired as a segment producer at KROQ 106.7 FM in 1988. This was during the time when KROQ was an Infinity Broadcasting Corporation station. In the late 80's to mid 90's Jimmy produced Openline, KROQ's Public Affairs program with Scott Mason, Boyd "Doc on the Rock" Britton, Gene "Bean" Baxter (of Kevin and Bean) and evening joq Doug "Sluggo" Roberts. Alvarez acquired his FCC license in 1989, enabling him to move over to live on-air broadcasting. In this capacity, he worked with Native Wayne Jobson on KROQ's Reggae Revolution and with former Loveline host Swedish Egil Aalvik on "All Night Radio." Jimmy was also an occasional co-host. Alvarez also did occasional segment producing for Rodney Bingenheimer.

Jimmy teamed up with Egil, assisting in the production of live programs in the early days of Mars FM – KDLD (103.1FM), which was based in Santa Monica, California. Some of his work included their original dance radio programs.

As an MC, Alvarez annually hosts the Ska Luau in Anaheim with fellow ska disc jockey Tazy Phillipz of the Ska Parade. Alvarez has also introduced notables acts such as: Berlin, Black Uhuru, The Damned, Dramrama, a Flock of Seagulls, Missing Persons, The Motels, Mustard Plug, Oingo Boingo Dance Party, Reel Big Fish, Starpool, The Untouchables, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Wailers and X .

Over the years, Alvarez has appeared in several film projects. Notably, In 2016, he appeared in the music video "Touch The Sky" by Orange County, California rock band Well Hung Heart. He's also appeared in music videos for Southern California and Greenlandish Punk Band, The Maxies. Jimmy also appeared in the 1998 feature film "Primary Colors."

Finance

In 1996, Alvarez temporarily left radio to pursue his ventures in banking/finance. Alvarez became the Vice President of Operations at a mortgage subsidiary of Lehman Brothers. During his tenure, he authored a book titled "Real Estate Lending in the New Millennium", released in 2007 by Red Lead Press as an encyclopedic guide to the world of Real Estate investing and specifically sub-prime markets.

During the financial crisis of 2007–2008, Alvarez left Lehman Brothers to work in Risk Management. Since then, he has continued to write about the financial world in articles with financial media outlets such as DS News, The National Mortgage News and Mortgage Orb. .
