He began employment as Chief Meteorologist for KTVX ABC 4 in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 18, 2012 and ended his employment sometime in the summer of 2014. He was replaced by Dan Pope who returned to KTVX. After KTVX, Kosek beagn presenting weather at KCTV in Kansas City, Missouri.

He joined WGCL-TV in Atlanta, Georgia on December 1, 2014 and made his return to the Chief Meteorologist position. Jims final day on WGCL was Friday June 23 2017 after being let go by the station. http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2017/06/23/more-housecleaning-at-cbs46-behind-the-scenes/
