Jeremy Burge (born 14 July 1984) is the Australian founder of Emojipedia and creator of World Emoji Day. He is responsible for all the descriptions, blog posts, and other content on Emojipedia.

Burge is a member of the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee and cited as an emoji expert. In 2016 La Vanguardia referred to Burge as "The Lord of Emojis" and Business Insider listed him in the UK Tech 100.

Writing

In July 2013, Burge started the emoji reference site Emojipedia which now has over 180 million pageviews each year. In April 2016 Burge told BBC Mundo that editing Emojipedia has "become his full-time job".

Podcasting

Burge has hosted the Emoji Wrap podcast since August 2016, which has featured notable guests such as Unicode Consortium President Mark Davis.

World Emoji Day

World Emoji Day is a "global celebration of emoji" created by Burge in 2014. According to the New York Times, he created this on "July 17 based on the way the calendar emoji is shown on iPhones".
