Career

Dawson was discovered in Sheffield by London agency Bookings and subsequently worked for photographers Steven Meisel and David LaChapelle (she was the front cover model for his controversial celebrity book "Hotel LaChapelle"), and for top fashion houses Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. Dawson has also been the face of several campaigns for major brands, including Fred Perry and Moschino. She has done a TV commercial for Brandalley as well as advertising campaigns for Specsavers, Osiris Glasses, Samsung and Body Shop (for their fragrance "Love ETC").

Dawson is now retired as a model and is currently co-presenting "I Can Make You A Supermodel" with Paul Fisher. Aside from this, Dawson is a model scout and mentor for Premier Model Management.

Dawson has been raising money for Pancreatic Cancer U.K. in honour and memory of her musical hero, Benjamin Orr, who died of the disease in October 2000. This is in association with Global Adventure Challenges. In May this year (2017) she will be trekking through the Grand Canyon for a 6 day charity challenge.

Dawson caused a media stir in February 2008 when, for lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, she posed naked in the window of the London department store Selfridges for the launch of their new perfume Strip. She also appeared in the short film "Lady Behave" directed by John Malkovich, in which she plays one of a bunch of bad girls who join a ladies school of etiquette.
Personal life

Dawson was married to musician Virgil Howe. They married in 2007 and had a daughter, Zuni, in September 2012. They had separated in 2015. Howe died in September 2017.
