Jeffrey Todd Ulmer (born March 2, 1966) is a professor of sociology and criminology at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), where he is also the associate head of the Department of Sociology and Criminology.

Education

Ulmer received his B.A. from Susquehanna University in 1988, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Penn State in 1990 and 1993, respectively, all in sociology.

Career

From 1994 to 2000, Ulmer served on the faculty of Purdue University, first as an assistant professor and later as an associate professor. In 2000, he joined the faculty of Penn State, first as an associate professor, where he was later promoted to the rank of full professor. In 2013, he became the associate head of the Department of Sociology and Criminology there.

Honors and awards

Ulmer has received two awards from the American Society of Criminology's Division on Corrections and Sentencing: the 2001 Distinguished New Scholar Award, and the 2012 Distinguished Scholar Award.
