Early & Personal Life
Jean Currivan Trebek was born on September 03, 1963. She completed her schooling and graduated from the Habourfields high school in 1992. She later moved to New York City and started working as a real estate businesswoman.
Apart from her successful work life, Jean Currivan's love for her spirituality is also quite evident. The 56-year-old businesswoman is a devoted member of the North Hollywood Church of Religious Sciences. She is also the founder of singing bowl meditation.
Family Details
Alex met Jean in the year 1988 at a party. The two happened to speak to each other for a while and clicked instantly. This happened after almost seven years of Alex's divorce with his first wife.
Alex liked Jean at the very first meet at the party. So, he invited Jean for dinner at his place. Jean was, however, quite reluctant to date a famous celebrity. In fact, in an interview, Alex also said Jean was "really nervous" to get involved with him, she said, "I was afraid I'd mispronounce my own name!" She was also scared about the huge age gap between the two.
The two, however, started dating each other gradually. Speaking of what thing about Alex appealed Jean the most, she said though the dapper host appears to be really classy and strict on TV screens, he was a totally different person in real life. She said he was a totally down to earth person, much casual and easy to go along with than he appears on the TV screens. She also revealed that looking at his extremely simple and casual life, she not only changed her mind about dating him but also decided to settle down with him early.
Alex proposed Jean for marriage two years after they met. While Alex was 50 years old, Jean was just 26 years old then. But gradually, the big age gap between the two had stopped bothering Jean, they knew they were meant to be together and got hitched.
After marriage, the couple lived with Alex's mother Lucie in the same house. The bond between the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law Jean was quite a cordial one. While Lucie did not interfere in the couple's life and had a life of her own, she would give Jean a good company when Alex was not around.
As of 2020 it's was almost 30 years , and the marriage of Alex and Jean was still going strong. Alex described their relationship as "one soul in two bodies." The couple were through thick and thin in life for decades, & proved that age gap doesn't really matter when two people were actually meant to be together. Their relationship was not controversial at all.
Despite been together for decades, the couple's love is such that Alex wished he could spend more time with his wife. "But my wife Jean and I have been together for almost 29 years, and I was thinking about President [George H. W.] Bush when he died, and all the comments about his life about what a nice guy he is, and how he and his wife had been together 73 years. I thought, ‘Oh my gosh if I’d just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a long life together…I guess if I’d met her when I was in my 20s she wouldn’t have been born yet. But hey, 29 years is pretty good," he said.
Jean spared all the limelight for her husband throughout her life. She only started interacting with media after Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Jean took care of her husband with all her heart. She also said that nothing hurts her more than seeing her husband in pain.
She said that it hurted her when Alex took too much coke as opposed to eating right. She continued to support her husband till his death. She looked after Alex's health, took him to chemotherapy sessions, looked after his medicines and other treatments wholeheartedly.
Alex used to say that he felt hurt to see that his loving wife beared the worst moments of his life especially the ones where he was in pain or depressed.
Alex died at his home in Los Angeles on November 8, 2020, at the age of 80, after more than 18 months fighting pancreatic cancer.

Jean Trebek has two kids with her husband Alex Trebek. They have a son named Mathew who was born in 1990, followed by a younger child, daughter Emily Trebek, who was born in 1993.
