Jaynagar Majilpur is a town and a municipality in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. Both the places are also identified separately as Jaynagar (or Jaynagar) and Majilpur. It is connected to Kolkata by Kolkata Suburban Railway, Sealdah South, Namkhana Section line.

Civic Administration
The Jaynagar-Majilpur municipality is divided into 14 wards.As of 2010,it is controlled by the INC-TMC-SUCI(C) alliance.In the 2010 municipal election,the municipality faced a hung verdict. Later, the Congress, with 6 councillors, formed the municipal board with the support of the Trinamool Congress and SUCI, who had 2 and 3 councillors respectively.
