Jawwad Ahmed Farid (born 16 August 1971, Karachi, Pakistan) is a member of the P@SHA Central Executive Committee (2006–2010) as well as the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) Ex-Co, the founder of Alchemy Technologies (2003–current), Finance Training Course (2010 – current) & FourQuants (2011–current).

He is an adjunct Professor at the SP Jain Institute of Management in Dubai and Singapore where he teaches Entrepreneurship, Financial Derivatives, Project finance and Risk management to Executive MBA students.

Jawwad is also the author of Reboot, Understanding Commodities Risk, Risk Applications and Frameworks and Models at Work. Jawwad is a frequent speaker within the Pakistan and regional technology community on new venture failure as well as a mentor for PASHA, CIO Pakistan, PSEB Tech Incubation program, and the MIT EF initiative in Pakistan. He is also an active contributor to Startup Insights, Learning Corporate Finance and Oil Insights.
At FAST NUCES (1989–1992) Jawwad served as an editor of Online, the student magazine. At Columbia University (1999–2000) he wrote regularly in his first term for Bottom Line, the Columbia Business School student community weekly. He has also been featured twice by the Actuary, the bi-monthly publication of the Society of Actuaries.
Asia Pacific ICT Awards and P@SHA
Jawwad has served as a judge for the PASHA ICT Awards as well as a Head Judge for the Startup, Tertiary Student, Financial Application and Communication categories at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 in Macau, Singapore,Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya. He currently serves as a mentor and an advisor to the P@SHA Social Innovation Fund.
His association with P@SHA started with the P@SHA ICT Award in 2005 when his team won the best Financial Application award. Together with a number of other mentors Jawwad became a member of the P@SHA team that took the Pakistan ICT delegation from a single win in 2005 to 7 medals tally in 2010 and 2011 at the APICTA Awards in Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya.
Entrepreneurship
Within the Pakistani technology community Jawwad is known as the author of Blue Screen of Death and Reboot his book documenting the failure of his first e-education venture in Southern California, his views on the role of failure in entrepreneurship.
State Life and Pakistan's first Mortality Table
He took over as the youngest Appointed Actuary at State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (the largest Life Insurance Company in Pakistan) in 2005 and left in 2008 after completing four valuations engagements. In addition to State Life, Jawwad was also the Appointed Actuary for Asia Care Health and Life Insurance and Dawood Family Takaful. At State Life, Jawwad is credited as the adviser to the team responsible for the construction of Pakistan's first Mortality Table for assured lives.
Education
Jawwad is a Fellow Society of Actuaries (2001), a MBA from Columbia Business School (2000), and a NUCES FAST ICS graduate (1992) in computer science. Columbia Business School is also the setting of his book on new venture failure and his first e-education startup.
