Since its inception, the gallery has focused on championing artists early in their careers as well as repositioning lesser known, yet influential mid and late career artists. Javier Peres based Peres Projects on a flexible, project-based model, in contrast to established gallery structures, in order to support his interest in working with a wide range of artists and presenting their work internationally at pivotal moments in their careers. Peres was included in the Art Review Power 100 in 2006. He is also an avid collector of premodern African Art.
