Jassim Haji (Arabic: جاسم حاجي) is a Bahraini executive in Gulf Air (the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain) who holds the position of Director of Information Technology. He currently serves on the board of directors of a leading hospitality and tourism technology provider in the Middle East and on SITA Council representing Middle East and North Africa.

Haji is a veteran in the field of Information and Communications Technology field while his achievements and accomplishments have been innovative and pioneer in this region which earned him 23 top Middle-Eastern technology awards, including five CIO distinguished awards. He was featured in the cover of seven international and reputable technology magazines which made him the first executive to achieve this in the region, most recent cover was in December 2015. And previously on May 2014 Dr. Haji was featured in Computer News Middle East IT magazine in section Chief Information Officer (CIO) Spotlight.
In January 2015 Haji has released his first book in the Arabic language titled "Techno-managerial Encyclopaedia" which is the result of experience and continuous research over decades and included a collection of articles about different topics in technology, corporate culture and economy. Since then, Haji has presented his book to numerous top executives and high ranking Governmental officials in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Background and Recent History
Haji has been instrumental in implementing some key IT innovations in Gulf Air in recent times; most notably, the introduction of advanced technology for Gulf Air World Wide Contact Center, Cloud Computing, Business Intelligence, Disaster Recovery Center, Green Technology, In-house Oracle R12 upgrade, Business Intelligence, Big Data, Electronic Flight Bag and deploying tablets to cabin crew for on-board services, in addition to several ISO certifications. He managed to achieve 23 top Middle-Eastern technology awards for Gulf Air, including five CIO distinguished awards.
He participated as a key speaker in numerous IT conferences in the Middle East and Europe to cover latest technologies such as Cloud Computing, Big Data, Information Security and Business Intelligence. He also publishes articles in relation to the above and other economic topics, and he writes weekly columns in Akhbar Al khaleej (a local Arabic newspaper) and Gulf Daily News (a local English newspaper). Additionally, Haji is part of several advisory boards of key technological events in the Gulf and he is participating in several judging panels for reputable technology awards.

Education
Haji received his Doctorate in Business Administration (PhD) from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK in 2010. He has completed his master's degree in Management of Information Technology from the University of Sunderland, UK and graduation in telecommunications from the famed Cable and Wireless College, Cornwall, UK.
Professional Experience
Haji started his career with Sprint Telecommunications in London before joining Gulf Air in 1985 as a network engineer and moved to Sabre – an airline IT Solutions Company – to whom Gulf Air outsourced its IT services. He then moved to EDS, another American IT solutions company with global presence, when Gulf Air moved its outsourcing services and grew within the ranks to become the Executive Director of EDS. When Gulf Air brought back its IT services, Haji also moved back to Gulf Air and became the Head of Information Technology Infrastructure in 2008, then he was appointed as Director of Information Technology in Aug 2011. He currently serves on the board of directors of a leading hospitality and tourism technology provider in the Middle East and on SITA Council representing Middle East and North Africa based on nomination from Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO).
