Jasper Publie

Biography

Jasper was born in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Antwerp. He has a brother named Sven. In 2007 he participated in the Belgian pre-selections for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest singing the song Weekend, but ultimately was not selected.

Jasper tried to continue to pursue his musical career. In 2008 he was a competitor, proving very popular, the television program Zo is er maar een - De cup of Belgian television channel VRT Ketnet. He is ail singer and guitarist of the band Gizonband, along with Toon Smet, another competitor of the program Zo is er maar een - De cup.

In 2011 he then renamed the band's name in Bandits, of which he is the founder and lead singer, along with bassist Thomas Van Achteren (3 September 1995), guitarist Tim Tielemans (1 April 1998) and drummer Toon Smet (7 April 1997). The roadie of the band is his own father, Jan Publie.

While stull studying pop music at Ghent Conservatory, he started presenting youth programs for Medialaan's channels VTM and VTMKzoom in 2015.

The beginnings, Gizonband 2010

Jasper has emerged with the band Gizonband (guitar without notes) with the occupation identical to that of the other members of the band, the guys have become friends in the same school of guitar. The band was active from 2007 until the name change and has played at Maanrock 2010 on the main-stage. The new name is intended as a pun, initially wanted to call it Bandit, but there was already a band with that name.

2011

In 2011, Jasper, with the Bandits, he performed several shows in Belgium. The first big event is important in which he participated to date has been to Pennenzakkenrock. He also appeared on the television show vtmKzoom. Meanwhile, he released three singles: Stop!, Tweelingzus and Kan niet op. He was a guest, along with the band, and on television Ketnet King Size (27 November 2011) and Jim (21 December 2011). On 23 November, the theater Thea Drome in Wilrijk has released the first album Bandits.

2012

In 2012 he was a guest, along with the band, in the quiz I-fans of the television channel for children Ketnet, in an episode dedicated precisely to the band. January 18, 2012 received an Anne-award in the category Beste kids pop. On January 21, he was again invited, along with the band, with bassist Thomas's absence due to illness, the Ketnet king size, complete the 20 May and mid-September, which revealed in a short summer break between the festival a real talent. In November 2012 also participated in the first edition of the program vtmKzoom Pop.

2013

On April 19, Bandits up the Sportpaleis in during the Nekka-Nacht with the implementation of Iedereen is van de wereld by the Dutch band The Scene along with The Lau.

The single Time Bomb stores in Thailand. On July 4, Publie was a guest at the music station Channel V at the beginning of the journey through Thailand of the Publie family.

During the summer can be seen at numerous festivals in Belgium including Gentse Feesten, Marktrock and for the first time in the Netherlands them again.

At the end of 2013, on November 1, Bandits will give a private concert in the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Bandits & Friends on the same day will be also presented their new CD.

2014

In the spring of 2014 Bandits took part in Belgium in the Eurosong 2014, the Belgian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. On February 16, they placed themselves, with the most votes during the callback, for the semi-finals. In it they finished second, which gave them the right to participate in the finals. In the grand finale, they were also the second, after Axel Hirsoux. Their second place they were mainly due to remote voting.

2015

Release of a new album with Bandits, called "Geval Apart".

Presenter debut at VTM, in segments of Baas in huis in Spring, first major job in backroom VIP interviews after each epsiode of K3 zoekt K3.
