Jason Winters was a Canadian Adventurer and Author known for his survival of a "terminal" cancer diagnosis and subsequent book "Killing Cancer"

Adventurer

Winters was born in England and emigrated to Canada as a young man. After working in a variety of jobs while living in Saskatchewan, Winters started a series of endeavors that brought him attention as an adventurer. Winters unsuccessfully attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean by hot air balloon and had to be rescued at sea. He also crossed the Canadian Rockies by hot air balloon and traversed the Mackenzie river 2,000 miles to the Arctic ocean by canoe.

Cancer Patient

In middle age, Winters was diagnosed with an aggressive and "terminal" cancer and given only a few months to live. After a series of unsuccessful medical treatments, Winters undertook a series of herbal traditional/alternative medicine treatments and subsequently experienced remission. Winters attributed his survival to this treatment and authored a series of books about the experience.

Honors

Winters was a Knight of the Order of St. John and was publicly known as Sir Jason Winters. He was recognized by the U.S. Congress in 1992. His knighthood was mentioned in the January, 1986 edition of the S.O.S.J Observer.
