Career
Born in Northwich, Oswell began his career at Crewe Alexandra, turning professional in May 2011. While at Crewe, he spent loan spells at non-league clubs Market Drayton Town and Nantwich Town during the 2010–11 season He was handed a one-year extension to his contract at the club in order to continue gaining experience out on loan and joinedd Welsh club Rhyl on a six-month loan deal during the 2011–12 season. After a strong start during his spell at the club, scoring 6 times in his first 10 appearances, Oswell was named as Cymru Alliance player of the month for October 2011 before finishing his loan spell with a total of 19 goals.
He moved to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in June 2012, making his debut on 11 August 2012 in the Scottish Premier League. Oswell was released by the club by mutual consent in January 2013. He re-signed for former club Nantwich Town in February 2013, before moving to Witton Albion in March 2013. He signed for Australian club APIA Leichhardt Tigers in May 2013, making his debut later that month against the Rockdale City Suns.
Oswell returned to Wales in September 2013 with brief spells at Rhyl and Airbus UK Broughton before joining Newtown in 2014. He finished as the club's top scorer in the 2014–15 and 2016–17 seasons, winning the Welsh Premier League golden boot during the latter with a total of 22 league goals.
He signed for Stockport County in June 2017.
Personal life
Whilst playing semi-professionally, Oswell worked as a physiotherapy assistant within the National Health Service and studied physiotherapy at university. As part of his final placement for university, Oswell travelled to Uganda with a charity group to help children with neurological conditions. He graduated from the University of Salford in July 2017.
