History
Jason Manly (born April 17, 1981) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Cesar Gracie and an American competitor of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. Manly received his blue belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu from Royce Gracie in 1999 before joining Cesar Gracie and Team Gracie Fighter while attending college at the University of California Berkeley, where he received a Track & Field scholarship.
While attending the University of California Berkeley Manly competed under Olympic Track & Field coach Irv Hunt. In his Freshman year at Berkeley Manly would receive the teams MVP honors and break into the Top 10 All-Time list in 100 Meters.
After graduating college Manly would go on to found the Gracie Fighter Berkeley Academy with Gracie Fighter teammate Jake Shields.
In September 2011 Manly was invited to compete in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) championship. A prestigious grappling tournament consisting only of the top 16 grapplers in the world of each weight class put on by Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the son of the former United Arab Emirates president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
