Jasem Jaihouni (JJ) (born 16 August 1988) is an American-Iranian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder and played in the Persian 1st Division. Currently playing professional futsal with Portland City Futsal Club in the MLF.
Playing career
Jasem was born in Portland, Oregon, attended Lincoln High School, and played youth soccer with various local clubs including F.C. Portland, Lake Oswego SC, Southside SC, and PCU. A standout player at Pacific University, captaining and leading the team to its first championship in years. He led the team in points both junior and senior seasons and finished with 10 goals and 20 assists as a midfielder while also earning first team selection and offensive honors. After college, he had a brief stint with former college coach Jim Rilatt at the Portland Timbers u23 team before travelling abroad to Iran to pursue playing professionally.
After arriving in Iran in 2010 he started his professional career with the Damash reserve team, during this time he was invited to train with the youth national team. His time in Iran did not last long due to injury, multiple surgeries on his ankle kept him from playing again until 2012. In 2012, he played with Foolad Yazd in the Azadegan league, which is the Iranian 1st division. Wanting a move back to the capital of Iran, Tehran, to be closer to friends and family, he moved to Parseh. After a short time he took the opportunity to be with the famous Esteghlal team of the premiere league by playing on their reserve team. Unfortunately his time there was short due to more injuries. Currently plays professional futsal with Portland City Futsal Club in the MLF.
