Jangipur subdivision

Jangipur subdivision is a subdivision of the Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Jangipur municipality and seven community development blocks: Raghnathganj–I, Raghnathganj–II, Suti–I, Suti–II, Samserganj, Sagardighi and Farakka. The seven blocks contain 61 gram panchayats and 21 census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Jangipur.

Area

Apart from the Jangipur and Dhulian municipalities, the subdivision contains 21 census towns and rural areas of 61 gram panchayats under seven community development blocks: Raghnathganj–I, Raghnathganj–II, Suti–I, Suti–II, Samserganj, Sagardighi and Farakka. The 21 census towns are: Ghorsala, Charka, Srikantabati, Jot Kamal, Sahajadpur, Khodarampur, Fatellapur, Madna, Ramakantapur, Nayabahadurpur, Aurangabad, Paschim Punropara, Dafahat, Jagtaj, Anup Nagar, Dhusaripara, Uttar Mahammadpur, Kankuria, Chachanda, Serpur and Farrakka Barrage Township.

Raghnathganj –I block

Rural area under Raghnathganj –I block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Dafarpur, Jarur, Mirjapur, Jamuar, Kanupur and Raninagar. Urban area under this block consists of three census towns: Ghorsala, Charka, Jangipur, and Srikantabati. Raghnathganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Raghunathganj.

Raghnathganj–II block

Rural area under Raghnathganj–II block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Barasimul Dayarampur, Jotkamal, Mitipur, Sekendra, Kasiadanga, Sammatinagar, Teghari–I, Giria, Lakshmijola and Sekalipur. Urban area under this block consists of three census towns: Jot Kamal, Sahajadpur and Khodarampur. Raghnathganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Jangipur.

Suti–I block

Rural area under Suti–I block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Ahiran, Bansabati, Nurpur, Bahutali, Harua and Sadikpur. Urban area under this block consists of four census town: Madna, Ramakantapur, Nayabahadurpur and Fatellapur. Suti police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Ahiran.

Suti–II block

Rural area under Suti–II block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Aurangabad–I, Jagtai–I, Laxmipur, Umrapur, Aurangabad–II, Jagtai–II, Mahesail–I, Bajitpur, Kasimnagar, Mahesail–II. Urban area under this block consists of four census towns: Aurangabad, Paschim Punropara, Dafahat and Jagtaj. Suti police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Dafahat.

Samserganj block

Rural area under Samserganj block consists of nine gram panchayats, viz. Bogdadnagar, Gajinagar Malancha, Nimtita, Bhasaipaikar, Chachanda, Pratapganj, Dogachhi Napara, Kanchantala and Tinpukuria. Urban area under this block consists of six census towns: Anup Nagar, Dhusaripara, Uttar Mahammadpur, Kankuria, Chachanda and Serpur. Samserganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Ratanpur.

Sagardighi block

Rural area under Sagardighi block consists of 11 gram panchayats, viz. Balia, Bokhara–I, Kabilpur, Patkeldanga, Bannyeswar, Bokhara–II, Monigram, Sagardighi, Barala, Gobordhandanga and Moregram. There is no urban area under this block. Sagardighi police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Sagardighi.

Farakka block

Rural area under Farakka block consists of nine gram panchayats, viz. Arjunpur, Bewa–I, Mahadebnagar, Bahadurpur, Bewa–II, Maheshpur, Beniagram, Imamnagar and Nayansukh. Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Farrakka Barrage Township. Farakka police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Farakka.

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in the West Bengal, the Farakka block and two gram panchayats under the Samserganj block, viz. Gajinagar Malancha and Kanchantala together will constitute the Farakka assembly constituency of West Bengal. The other seven gram panchayats under the Samserganj block will be part of the Samserganj assembly constituency. The Suti–II block and the three gram panchayats under the Suti–I block, viz. Bahutali, Harua and Sadikpur will form the Suti assembly constituency. The Jangipur assembly constituency will be formed by the Jangipur municipality, the Raghnathganj–I block, and two gram panchayats under Suti–I block, viz. Ahiran and Bansabati. The Raghnathganj–II block and the Nurpur gram panchayat under the Suti–I block will be part of the Raghunathganj assembly constituency. The Sagardighi block will form the Sagardighi assembly constituency. Farakka and Samserganj assembly constituencies will be part of the Maldaha Dakshin (Lok Sabha constituency), whereas Suti, Jangipur, Raghunathganj and Sagardighi constituencies will be part of the Jangipur (Lok Sabha constituency).
