Janet G. Woititz (c. 1939 – June 7, 1994) was an American psychologist and researcher best known for her writings and lectures about the adult children of alcoholic parents., Including the 1983 book, Adult Chilldren of Alcoholics. Woititz born in Great Neck, New York and earned a bachelor's degree from Antioch College and a master's at Montclair State College (since renamed to Montclair State University). In 1976 she received her doctorate at the Rutgers University where during summer she taught at the Rutgers Center for Alcoholic Studies. In 1983, Health Communications have published her book called Adult Children of Alcoholics which was translated into six languages and also was a best-seller until 1987. In 1985 she published a book called Struggle for Intimacy which reached almost a million in a year.
She died on June 7, 1994, at the age of 55 at her home in Roseland, New Jersey.
