The Jan Shatabdi Express is a more affordable variety of the Shatabdi Express, which has both AC and non-AC accommodation. The word 'Jan' refers to common people. It used to have on board catering service, later on the services were removed.
Hill Queen Express (MG) is only meter gauge track Jan Shatabdi in India, which runs on between Lumding to Lower Haflong and covers a distance of 100 kilometres (62 mi) in 3 hours 45 minutes and all other Jan Shatabdi trains run on broad gauge.
The Hill Queen Express is due to be converted to a broad gauge service by March 2016 [1].
