Early life

Born to Jewish parents, Jamie Patricof is the son of Alan Patricof, the founder of Apax Partners (one of the largest private equity firms in the world) and Susan Patricof. Patricof grew up in NYC. He went to The Collegiate School and The Fieldston School. He has two brothers, Jon Patricof who is the President of the NYCFC and Mark Patricof who is a Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey.

Jamie Patricof is a co-founder of Electric City Entertainment, a production company based in Los Angeles.

Patricof most recently produced THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE, directed by Niki Caro and starring Jessica Chastain, which was released by Focus Features in March of 2017. The film is an adaptation of the novel by Diane Ackerman.

In addition, Patricof also recently produced the acclaimed independent feature CAPTAIN FANTASTIC, which was written and directed by Matt Ross and starred Viggo Mortensen, who was nominated for a Golden Globe as well as an Oscar for his role. Mr. Mortensen and the ensemble were also nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards’ top prize, for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture; and the film won the Directing Prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival. Jamie was also recently an Executive Producer on Gavin O’Connor’s film THE ACCOUNTANT, starring Ben Affleck, which opened at #1 at the domestic box office.

Prior to that, Patricof was a producer on the film MISSISSIPPI GRIND, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Ben Mendelsohn, and Sienna Miller. This film marked his third collaboration with filmmakers Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. It was released by A24 Films in September 2015, after premiering at Sundance earlier that year. In years prior, Patricof teamed up with The Weinstein Company to produce Tim Burton's BIG EYES, starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz. He collaborated with Derek Cianfrance to produce BLUE VALENTINE (2010) and THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES (2012). BLUE starred Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams and was released by The Weinstein Company, where it went on to earn multiple Golden Globe nominations, as well as a Best Actress nomination for Williams. PINES starred Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne and Ray Liotta. Patricof's first feature with Fleck and Boden, HALF NELSON, garnered significant awards attention, highlighted by Spirit and Gotham Award victories as well as an Academy Award nomination for Ryan Gosling. Other films that Patricof has produced include LITTLE BIRDS, from writer/director Elgin James, and SUGAR, the sophomore feature from Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden.

Patricof's documentary projects include LEVITATED MASS (2013) by filmmaker Doug Pray, and CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO (2007) by director Matthew Ogens. In addition, he produced THE OFFSEASON (2014), a documentary for HBO on NBA MVP Kevin Durant, as well as three documentaries for ESPN’s acclaimed 30 for 30 series: STRAIGHT OUTTA LA (2010), directed by Ice Cube, THE DAY THE SERIES STOPPED (2014), directed by Ryan Fleck, and SOLE MAN (2009), directed by Jon Weinbach & Dan Marks. He is currently in production on his fourth 30 for 30 documentary.

Personal life

Jamie is married to former model Kelly Sawyer, who was born in London but raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Kelly is the co-founder of the non profit Baby2Baby They have two children, Riley and Sawyer.
