James Brian Palmer (born 25 November 1985) is an English former football right back. He began his career at Brentford, for whom he made one professional appearance before dropping into non-league football upon his release in 2005. Palmer moved into Sunday League football in 2007 and has been player-manager of Bell On The Green Casuals since 2008. He has sometimes been known as Brian Palmer.

Brentford
Palmer began his career as a youth at Brentford, signing for the club's Centre of Excellence at age 10. His maiden call into the first team squad came on 24 August 2004, for a League Cup first round match versus Ipswich Town. Palmer remained on the bench during the 2–0 defeat. Palmer received his second call into the first team squad for a Football League Trophy first round match against Milton Keynes Dons on 28 September 2004. Manager Martin Allen selected a side mostly composed of players from the youth team, including Ryan Peters, Sean Hillier, Josh Lennie, Karleigh Osborne, Darius Charles, Luke Muldowney and Scott Weight. Palmer made his professional debut in the match, playing the full 90 minutes of the 3–0 defeat. Palmer was called into the first team squad again on 9 October and was an unused substitute for a 0–0 draw with Barnsley. Palmer was called up again for a league match versus Milton Keynes Dons on 5 February 2005, remaining on the bench for the 1–0 victory. It was Palmer's final involvement for the first team and he was released in the summer of 2005, having made just one appearance.
Kingstonian (loan)
Palmer and Brentford youth teammate Luke Muldowney joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Kingstonian on work experience loans in December 2004. Palmer made his debut in a 2–0 win over Yeading on 1 January 2005, replacing Dwayne Plummer in the second half. He made his first start in the following game, helping the Ks to a 6–1 Isthmian League Cup third round victory over Folkestone Invicta. Palmer scored his first goal for the club in a 2–2 draw with Harrow Borough on 29 January. Palmer departed the club in March 2005, having made eight appearances and scored one goal during his time with the Ks.
Staines Town (loan and permanent signing)
Towards the end of the 2004–05 season, Palmer signed on loan for Isthmian League Premier Division side Staines Town. Palmer made his debut with a start in a 2–1 defeat to Windsor & Eton on 19 March. He made only one more appearance for the club in a 2–0 defeat to Leyton on 2 April and returned to Brentford at the end of the season. Palmer signed for the Swans permanently in the summer of 2005. He managed only two appearances for the club during the 2005–06 season before his departure in December 2005.
Northwood (loan)
Palmer signed on loan for Southern League Premier Division side Northwood early in the 2005–06 season, but made only three appearances before suffering an injury.
Wealdstone
Palmer signed for Isthmian League Premier Division side Wealdstone in December 2005. He made 16 appearances during what remained of the 2005–06 season.
North Greenford United
Palmer played one match for Combined Counties League Premier Division side North Greenford United on 11 April 2006, appearing in a 3–0 defeat to Chessington & Hook United. The move saw him reunite with former Brentford teammate Sean Hillier.
Return to Wealdstone
Palmer made a substitute appearance in the Brian Collins Challenge Trophy shootout win over Harrow Borough on 6 August 2006, which turned out to be Palmer's only appearance of the 2006–07 season.
Bell On The Green
Palmer moved into Sunday League football in 2007, signing with Hayes Middlesex Sunday Football League Division Six side AFC Stanwell Athletic. He made 16 appearances during the 2007–08 season and was appointed player-manager in the latter stages of the campaign. The club folded in the summer of 2008. Palmer approached The Bell On The Green pub in Bedfont, who agreed to provide funding for the club, on the condition that it was renamed Bell On The Green Sunday F.C. The reformed club entered the Chiswick & District Sunday League Division Two for the 2008–09 season, with Palmer making 24 appearances and scoring two goals during the campaign. A third-place finish brought promotion to Division One for the 2009–10 season. Palmer led the club to their second straight promotion with a second-place finish behind West London Phoenix. He made 29 appearances and scored one goal during the 2009–10 season. A mid-table finish saw Bell On The Green consolidate their position in the Intermediate Division during the 2010–11 season, with Palmer making 23 appearances and scoring one goal. Early in the season he won the second silverware of his career, bringing home the Arthur White Memorial Shield after a 5–1 victory over West Ealing on 5 September. Palmer made limited appearances during the 2011–12 season and a dismal campaign led to relegation. The club transferred to the Middlesex County Sunday League Division Three for the 2012–13 season, with Palmer making 16 appearances, scoring one goal and leading the side to a mid-table finish. Palmer is still player-manager with the club's Casuals team as of November 2016.
