James Rajasekar is an Associate Professor of Management at the College of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University. He is a leading authority on cross cultural management and Arab market interactions. Specializing in Strategic Management and International Business, Dr. Rajasekar's work is recognized by governments and global academic circles for policy implementation and the increasingly stronger relationship between culture and globalization.

Education

James Rajasekar received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bharathiar University in 1988, where he graduated at the top of his class. He attended graduate school at the University of Madras, where he received his Master of Commerce in 1990 and his Master of Philosophy in 1992. Rajasekar was the recipient of an academic sponsorship by the Government of India's Ministry of Human Resource Development. He was a government exchange student at Golden Gate University, where he received his Doctorate of Business Administration from the Edward S. Ageno School of Business in 2000. His doctoral dissertation on the effects of airline alliances and codesharing on airline performance was recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Career

James Rajasekar is the author of several articles and policy analyses, including but not limited to policy implementation in telecommunication, energy, transportation, and the regional and global economy. His book, Culture and Gender in Leadership: Perspectives from the Middle East and Asia, deals with the inherent influence of culture and gender on business on multiple levels of leadership with specific relevance to emerging Arab and Asian markets in relation to their global counterparts. His research also focuses on the influence of national culture on business strategies of diversified firms. Dr. Rajasekar's research is widely used by organizations and policy makers in relation to Arab and, by extension, global markets. In addition to his teaching and research, he also serves as an advisor to several entities in the public and private sphere to guide policy decisions and business and leadership strategies.

He was one of the National Coordinators representing India in Phase III of the GLOBE Project from 2001 to 2003.

Dr. Rajasekar has taught previously at the Indian Institute of Management, Indore and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and has been a guest speaker at various academic events including the International Business Initiative and X-Culture projects.

Awards and Honors

Dr. Rajasekar is a two-time winner of the X-Culture award and has mentored several student-based team projects that have won international recognition. As of 2015, he is also a three-time winner of both the Best Teacher Award and Best Researcher Award from the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman. He is also a recipient of several other research and teaching awards from international conferences and academic circles.
