James Richard O'Shaughnessy, Baron O'Shaughnessy (born 26 March 1976) is a British Conservative politician and member of the House of Lords.

He was educated at Claires Court School and Wellington College, both in Berkshire and graduated from St Hugh's College, Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in 1998.

A former Downing Street aide, he was Director of Policy to the Prime Minister from May 2010 to October 2011.

He was created a life peer on 1 October 2015 taking the title Baron O'Shaughnessy, of Maidenhead in the Royal County of Berkshire.

He was appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and as Lord in Waiting (i.e. government whip in the House of Lords) on 21 December 2016.
