Background

Hall began his career with AFLAC in the New England area. He then left AFLAC to begin his own firm, National Benefits Partner, where he specialized in designing insurance benefit packages exclusively for hospital and healthcare system employees. He left National Benefits in 2005, and has in the interim continued his pursuit of a number of other entrepreneurial ventures. He is the founder of Ebenefits.com, a web based human resource benefits administration system. In 2006, he sold Ebenefits.com to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Hall was a longstanding board member and the former CEO of Children's Miracle Network, a philanthropic organization dedicated to children and 170 children's hospitals in Canada, Ireland, United States and the United Kingdom. Hall also serves as the Educational Chair of the Westminster Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization in London.

Hall graduated from Westminster College with a BS in Business in 2009, and completed an MBA at the University of Oxford.

Fraud accusation and acquittal

In February 2008, the State of Utah filed a number of state felony charges against Hall, including fraud, theft, and unlawful dealing of property by a fiduciary. The charges say Hall diverted without authorization $400,000 from the trust account into his own personal account to deceive a mortgage lender and obtain $1 million in financing for a home. He replaced the money a few days later, but the charges say his actions put the fund at risk. Additionally, he took $10,000 from the trust account and put it into the operating account to make payroll and used trust funds to pay the balance on a loan for a company jet, the charges say. On October 27, 2009, Judge Ann Boyden of the Third District Court of the State of Utah acquitted Hall of all charges. The Court found “the State of Utah has failed to meet its burden of proof with respect to all counts of the criminal information and therefore finds the defendant (Jim Hall) not guilty of all charges.”

Academic career

James Hall is currently an Associate Fellow at the Said Business School in Oxford, England, where he is currently reading for his DPhil.

James founded and led several organizations including Insurance Point, which provides insurance benefits to healthcare employees at hundreds of hospitals across the United States, sold to Arthur J. Gallagher & Co in July 2014; Ebenefits.com, a successful web-based human resource benefits administration system, sold to UPMC 2007; and Versa Ventures, a management consulting and investment firm.
