History

Jama Software, a collaborative web-based application designed to help companies manage projects that relate to the development and introduction of products, was founded in 2007 by Eric Winquist, Sean Tong, and Derwyn Harris. The idea for Jama was formed when Winquist was working at a previous company.

In 2008, Jama received a $110,000 investment prize at the Bend Venture Conference. Jama closed a $1 million investment from the Oregon Angel Fund weeks later. In December 2010, ReadWriteWeb named Jama as one of the top 5 enterprise startups to watch in 2011. It was listed as #52 in 2011 and #84 in 2012 on Forbes' list of America's Most Promising Companies.

In May 2013, Jama was featured with 10 other Portland-based start ups in a collaboration video called "TechTown Portland". In August 2013, Jama Software raised $13 Million in its first venture capitalist round led by investors Trinity Ventures, with participation from Madrona Venture Group.

In 2013, Jama Software was listed as #84 on Forbes America's Most Promising Companies. It was announced that Scott Roth will succeed Winquist as CEO. Winquist will remain chairman of board of directors of the company and will be the Chief Strategy Officer.
