Born in Cleveland , Ohio on 17th January 1997, Jake Joseph Paul is an American YouTuber, entrepreneur and an actor. Over time he has gathered more than 20 million subscribers and is one of the most successful YouTubers as of 2020.

He struggled his way to the top, primarily through the video application Vine, which is now defunct. He has starred in several television series, the most prominent one among his works being Bizaardvark, a comedy TV series.

Although he later ended up leaving the project after being a part of it for two seasons. Jake spent his entire childhood in Westlake, Ohio. Since his childhood, he was fond of wrestling, and he even started it at a competitive level as well. Gradually, he also started training himself to be a Navy Seal. Eventually, though, he ended up being a Youtuber, as he had a lot of efficiency in creating videos. His career as video content creator got a boost on the video app Vine.

Earlier, Jake was dating Tana Mongeau, which eventually led to a breakup. In an interview, Jake once said that the couple was fighting for stupid and petty reasons. Later, he ended up dating Julia Rose.

Jake's career was marred with controversies. He started by operating for the video app Vine, where he amassed about one million followers in just six months.

Slowly, with his proficiency, the followers kept increasing, as he kept uploading short videos on the application Vine. While leaving Vine, Jake had around 6 million followers on the app and almost 2 billion views.

Although the app is now defunct, one can easily call that stepping stone of his career.

He later starred in the new Disney series- Bizaardvark as “Dirk”. He played the role of Dirk and was omnipresent with the Bizaardvark unit for 18 months, after which he decided to part ways. Till then he had already starred in two seasons, and Disney wished him all the best for his future endeavours.

Role in Disney’s Bizaardvark

After he stopped posting short videos in Vine and left the organization as a popular star, the first breakthrough that came in his career was shooting for Disney in the role of Dirk in the series "Bizaardvark."

He enjoyed his time for almost two years there, starring in nearly a couple of seasons, acting opposite Madison Hu. At the end of 2 years, it was announced by the Disney authorities that he will not be a part of the set anymore and that they wish him success for his future life.

What followed was not entirely pleasant for him to know. KTLA had filed a news report that said that several users had lodged a complaint against Paul for creating a ruckus with his neighbors and co-stars. They were fed-up with Paul's pranks, fire hazards and the ruckus that he used to do in public.

Roles in other movies and TV series

However, as a successful YouTuber, it was never difficult for Jake to look for a role in any movie or series.

He subsequently went on to act in “Dance Camp”. It was a movie which released on YouTube where he went on to play the role of the protagonist, Lance. Thereby, he also went on to act under the Fox banner, playing the role of Dugan in their short film Mono, which was a cameo appearance by him.

Not only he acted in a few movies and TV series, but he also composed songs of his own.

The first song that was produced and published by him was "It's Everyday Bro". He wrote it along with Ivan Martinez Emilio and Martinez Tessa Brooks.

He later went on to compose several other songs like “Randy Savage”, “Champion”, “These Days”, “My Teachers”, “I love You Bro”, etc. As the title of the song might suggest, “I love you bro” featured Logan Paul, his brother who was the dearest to him since his childhood. He once said that he composed that song as an ode to his brother.

Controversies

In July 2017, it was revealed that his neighbour's in Los Angeles lodged a civil case against him with the Police regarding the destruction of public property and creating a ruckus in public.

In January 2018, he launched a YouTube video featuring him and his then-girlfriend Erika Costell which was semi-nude in terms of content. He left it uncensored, thereby garnering a huge amount of criticism since the younger viewers under the age of 18 could access it at ease.

The Looting Scandal Controversy

The Looting Scandal Controversy is perhaps the most major controversy in Paul’s career. On 30th May 2020, Jake and a few of his friends went to have dinner at P.F. Chang’s in Scottsdale, Arizona, while taking part in the protests concerning George Floyd who was killed in police custody.

There began the ruckus where the loot started. Jake and his friends were spotted outside P.F. Chang's, who barged inside the mall and shot videos of people looting the mall and rioting inside. Multiple footages show Paul and his friends doing the same, that warranted criticism widely.

However, later he denied the accusations of looting and said he was just shooting a video as a future reference for public service. He spoke against the violence on social media afterwards.
