In round 17, against the same opposition, Lever recorded 24 disposals at 92% efficiency, 10 marks and 7 rebound 50s and was thus nominated for the 2015 AFL Rising Star award in just his seventh game. Late in the year he signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2017.

Lever played every game in 2016, establishing himself in the Crows' defence and finishing sixth in the league for intercept possessions with 176. He kicked the first goal of his career late in the season against Fremantle, playing on from a mark and baulking two Fremantle defenders before kicking truly; his effort was nominated as the goal of the round.

Lever went into 2017 out of contract at the end of the season, and good form started to increase his price tag. Early in 2017, Lever indicated he planned on signing another contract with the Crows, remaining in Adelaide despite his Victorian roots. However, on 21 August 2017, he terminated his weekly segment with radio station 5AA, citing "distractions" as the reason. Mark Bickely, a co-host of the show, offered an alternative reason by suggesting Lever may have already made his decision to leave Adelaide.
