Jaijit Bhattacharya is a noted Government transformation expert and is Partner at KPMG. He is also President of Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP)and Adjunct Professor at IIT Delhi. He has been responsible for the creation of the next generation of solutions for governments, based on open standards. Bhattacharya advises governments on e-governance strategies. He is an e-Governance advisor to Government of Sri Lanka and has been conducting training for ADB institute in Tokyo on Public Expenditure Management and has helped World Bank develop curriculum for their e-Leadership program. Bhattacharya was also part of the Army IT Advisory Committee constituted by the then Chief of Army Staff. He also delivers invited lectures at INSEAD Singapore campus, IIT Roorkee and at IIM Calcutta. Bhattacharya also coined the terms "Technological Sovereignty", "Participative Governance" from the perspective of e-Governance, and identified "Extreme Automation" as the key driver of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Education

Bhattacharya did his PhD from Department of Computer Science and Engineering IIT Delhi, MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and B.,Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Career

Bhattacharya has developed business models and strategies for leading companies in the IT, media and computer hardware industries. He has numerous research papers to his credit in leading journals and conferences. He is the author/co-author of four books on e-Governance including the first book on e-Governance in India, ‘Government On-line – Opportunities and Challenges’, published by McGraw Hill and released by the then Honourable President of India, Shri Abdul Kalam. He is also the author of the first book on Privacy Middleware in the world.

The book e-Gov 2.0: Policies, Processes and Technologies by Bhattacharya highlights the need for capacity building for rapid roll out of e-Governance initiatives and develops an understanding of the complexities of e-Governance. Such an understanding is required to educate stakeholders who could then be better equipped for a constructive dialogue with the implementing Government agencies. This book was released by Shri Kapil Sibal, the then Honourable Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Government of India.

It is the only known textbook on e-governance in India and had a pedagogy that helps students, practitioners and policy makers to understand the high level policies, processes and technologies required for successful adoption of e-Governance.
