    Jagjit Kaur belonged to a wealthy Punjabi zamindari family. She chose to marry talented upcoming composer Khayyam, forgetting religious differences. They had a son, actor Pradeep Khayaam, who expired in 2012. Khayaamji has started a trust in the name of his wife and son to help artistes and technicians in need.
