Early life

Initially, Bayne was more interested in writing poetry and only listening to music. After being introduced to such artists as Rakim, UGK and 8Ball & MJG by his uncle, Bayne developed an affinity for the culture. Eventually, these and other influential hip-hop figures, increased his interest in making music. At the age of 15, Bayne's family moved from his hometown, Charleston, South Carolina to Indianapolis, Indiana where he would eventually expand his musical repertoire and weave a deep cultural web in Indianapolis' thriving hip-hop music scene. Bayne attended Purdue University in 2000 studying computer science/technology. His passion for music continued to be a driving force and Bayne decided to embrace his passion and carve a path into the hip-hop music industry.

Early career

Bayne began writing and recording in 2004 in Indianapolis, then moved to Inglewood, CA in 2005 to further his career. In 2006, Bayne moved from southern California back to Indianapolis and started doing shows throughout the local music scene in 2007 where he gained considerable notoriety locally and nationally. Gaining the attention of an A&R in 2008, he added Bayne to his roster of talented artists that included everyone from Canibus, Wu-Tang Clan, and Redman to Planet Asia, Kurupt, and Keith Murray.

2010

In 2010, Bayne appeared alongside Canibus on the album, "Melatonin Magik", that charted and topped out on the Billboard Hip-Hop and R&B charts at #91. During this time, Bayne earned an opener spot on the 2010 Melatonin Magik tour throughout the United States where he would reach a wider, and much more critical, audience. With the quality of his live performance growing show by show, Bayne held his own and broadened his fanbase.

2011

After meeting with the Headhunters (of Herbie Hancock fame) and Rob Dixon of Owl Studios, he was selected to appear on 3 songs on the Headhunters' album "Platinum" (released in July 2011). One of the songs, "D-Funk (Funk Wit Us)" features Killah Priest, George Clinton and Snoop Dogg and this album was given top honors by both jazz and progressive music enthusiasts and critics as one of the best releases of the year. In addition, Bayne has also appeared on Kurupt's compilation album titled "The Academy 2" alongside The Lox emcee, Styles P. These appearances earned Bayne a one album deal with Owl Studios in Indianapolis. He signed in January 2011 to begin working on his debut album, "Audio Therapy", that features everyone from Fred the Godson and Canibus, to StreetRunner, Bronze Nazareth, Mizbeatz and more.

2012

"Audio Therapy" was released on April 24, 2012 with the Indianapolis based jazz label, Owl Studios, with feature and production notables that included Mizbeatz, Bronze Nazareth, StreetRunner, Styles P, Fred the Godson, J. French, David Keisman, Kassim Norris, and engineered by Derek Ziko and Seany D. The album, distributed by Allegro Distribution (recorded at Bong Water Studios) was well received by fans. The single "Stateside" was digitally released by an accompanying video on September 13, 2012 where it was recognized by numerous hip-hop websites and blogs. The single was eventually included in the "Stateside: Soldier Service Pack" EP where it gave way to the Service Pack initiative that allowed free EPs to be personally shipped by Bayne himself to soldiers serving overseas and through United States bases.

Bayne was named a part of the Nightsons crew in the summer of 2012, was featured in Stars and Stripes military newspapers for Mainland Japan, Guam, Korea, United Kingdom and Okinawa, as well as on an international release by Sound Survivors on the album, "Feelthisundastood" with C-Rayz Walz, Planet Asia and Killah Priest. Likewise, Bayne was featured on JP Beats' "The Warning" on the track dubbed "The Congregation" which featured M-Eighty and Rusty Redenbacher.

2013

In 2013, Bayne was listed by the Indianapolis Star as an artist to watch for 2013 and recently launched his new website, http://jaecynbayne.com/ where fans can watch videos, read bios, view galleries, bookings and more.
