Jacob Dean is the son of author, editor, and New York Times recipe tester and columnist Denise Landis. Dean holds graduate degrees in both forensic and clinical psychology. He also studied film-making and criticism. He has been employed as a psychotherapist at a private hospital in Washington D.C.
Dean traveled for work across North America and to Europe, North Africa, Asia and the Western United States. He has a particular interest in investigating food ways and stories related to cultural and social justice. His writings appear in the Washington Post, Vice, The New York Times, The A.V.
