Gardening career

Jack Wallington's interest in gardening shot to public attention when he starred alongside his partner Dr Christopher Anderson in the BBC TV series Big Dreams, Small Spaces presented by Monty Don, which was watched by over 2 million people. He is a qualified horticulturalist who is still training at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Wallington has been vocal about encouraging more young people to take an interest in gardening including writing a widely shared article for The Guardian also reported by Horticulture Week.

Publishing career

Wallington has been the Director of Community for the UK's largest education website The Student Room since March 2012. He has been a long time supporter of young people in society by making their views heard at a Government level. In May 2016 he met with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to talk about student votes in the EU referendum.

Jack Wallington's work has been recognised by magazine The Drum who included him in their Social Buzz Top 50, naming him as one of the most influential people in social media for both 2014 and 2015.

Prior to The Student Room, Wallington was head of industry programmes at the Internet Advertising Bureau UK, and is known for his work growing the trade association's working groups dramatically since he joined in 2007 and his educational work with recognised industry publications like Mobile Advertising: the Emerging UK Market, A Guide To Video Advertising Online and Tabvertising (iPad and other tablets: the advertising and marketing opportunities). He has worked to promote standardised video advertising in the UK and is also a digital marketing commentator frequently quoted in Brand Republic, New Media Age and others. Wallington cut his teeth in the music industry and worked on the Steps official website. In 2009 Wallington's work was recognised when he was named a winner in the Media Week 30 Under 30 awards.
