Jack R. Fischel is an American academic. Fischel was a professor of history at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where he lectured for thirty seven years.

Early life and education

Fischer was born September 5, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY to Morris and Miriam (Baum) Fischer. He married Julia Lipkin (a speech therapist) on March 12, 1967, and his children were Corrie and Joshua. He graduated from Hunter College (now of the City University of New York) with a B.A. in 1955. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware 1973.

Career

Fischel specialized in repressive issues in history, particularly against African-Americans and Jews. As of 2011 he taught a pluralism class on the Holocaust at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. He is the author of The Holocaust (Greenwood, 1998), Historical Dictionary of the Holocaust (Rowman & Littlefield, 1999), and coauthor of The Holocaust and Its Religious Impact (Praeger, 2004). He published Encyclopedia of Jewish American Popular Culture in 2008.

Personal

He married Julia Lipkin, a speech therapist in 1967 and they have two children.
