Jablonec nad Jizerou (German: Jablonetz) is a town in the Czech Republic in the Semily district of the Liberec region.

History
In the first historical mention of the village of Jablonec, chronicles from the year 1492 mention a wooden parish church, one of the first in the area.
In 1896 Jablonec was given the status of a market town by Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria. At this time Jablonec was also given a new emblem, incorporating the name and the dominant building, the Church of St. Procopius (Czech wiki page).
In 1916 on the request of the city council, the township name was extended from Jablonec to Jablonec nad Jizerou.
In 1971 Jablonec nad Jizerou was awarded the status of town.
Ski Resort
In Jablonec nad Jizerou there is also a ski resort, with 3.3 kilometers of downhill slopes and two ski lifts. The top of the hill is 688 meters above sea level.
