He then went on to write two other non-fiction books, “Fingers in the Light” and “Haddie’s In Our Closet.” He was also listed by the Organic View’s Radio Show as having written one of the best books of 2011. “Haddie’s In Our Closet”, an autobiographical ghost story, was a finalist in Foreword Reviews 2012 Book of the Year awards. In 1976 Soeder ran in the Liberty Torch Race, now the World Harmony Run, a 24-hour-a-day, nonstop, relay covering all 50 states to mark the United States Bicentennial.
Miami public art
In 1977 Jon Soeder graduated from University of Miami with a Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science degree. Soeder's mural work can be seen all over the University of Miami. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of University of Miami, Soeder created a three part mural. Soeder's first work was on the patio of the Student Union. Soeder was then asked to design the walls of the entrance to the pool. In addition, Saga Foods had Soder paint the major cafeterias on campus with colorful designs, native flowers, and landscapes.
Soeder later installed graphics and murals all around Miami's Coconut Grove and South Miami neighborhoods.
"Element 238" Series
Soeder is the author of the five part science fiction series, “Element 238.” The setting is Earth’s future, three hundred and fifty years in the future, where ninety-eight percent of mankind has since been wiped out by a genetically created germ. Two scientists work together to discover what happened and what can be done to save the Earth. Four books have been published so far. According to the author's webpage, the fifth book is forthcoming.
Animal communication
Soeder claims to be able to communicate with animals. His autobiographical book, True Tails, centers around his life with animals. He also works for the preservation of marine mammals—his arguments for ending the killing of whales are expressed in his website, The Whale People. Although there is disagreement to whether animal communication is possible, Soeder has been sought after to speak about his experiences. He has been interviewed for his knowledge of animal communication.
