Dixon made a single first-class appearance for Lancashire in 1878 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. In his only first-class match, he scored 2 runs in Lancashire's first innings before being dismissed by Fred Morley. In their second innings he was dismissed by Alfred Shaw for a duck.
