Football career

Born in Logroño, La Rioja, Agustín began his professional career with CD Mirandés, moving in 2001 to Segunda División B club Amurrio Club. In the following summer he returned to his previous team, achieving promotion to that level in his first season.

In 2004 Agustín joined Algeciras CF also in the third category, continuing to play in that division in 2005–06, with Terrassa FC. Afterwards he returned to Mirandés for a third stint, contributing with 14 games in the 2011–12 campaign (1,020 minutes overall) as his side achieved promotion in the playoffs, reaching Segunda División for the first time in its history.

Agustín made his division two debut on 6 October 2012 – at the age of 33 years and five months – starting in a 1–2 home loss against Elche CF. He scored his first professional goal on 1 December 2013, but in a 1–3 defeat at CE Sabadell FC.

On 11 August 2014, aged 35, Agustín announced his retirement, being immediately appointed his last club's fitness coach.
