Itu is located in the south east of Nigeria and is a Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The Local Government Area occupies a landmass of approximately 606.1 0 square kilometres. It is bounded in the North and North-East by Odukpani in Cross River State and Arochukwu in Abia State, in the West by Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas, in the South and SouthEast by Uyo and Uruan Local Government Areas, respectively.

ACP Ebong Eyibio Ebong - A serving Assistant Commissioner in the Nigeria Police Force. He is the officer in Charge of Nigeria's Elite Counter Terrorism Unit Training School in Rivers State.
Obong (Elder) John Sam Ituh - Served as a Chief Superintendent of Police in Charge of Uyo Division of then South Eastern State from 1970 to 1973. He was a committed member of the state council of chiefs, community leader and politician.
